Marco Polo Ibershuttle

IBERSHUTTLE

IBERSHUTTLE is a hub-and-spoke system linking all railheads in Belgium and Luxembourg with major locations in Spain (excl. Barcelona and Tarragona).

The system is served by a shuttle train running four times per week between Ronet (Belgian hub) and Madrid (Spanish hub).  In the north, feeder connections are linking Ronet with the different railheads in Belgium and Luxembourg.  In the south, TECO trains are serving the major Spanish terminals to/from Madrid.

All trains are open to all kinds of containers and swap-bodies, but bottom-lift semi-trailers are not allowed.

IBERSHUTTLE is supported by the European Commission Marco Polo Programme, in co-operation with Combiberia (Madrid), IFB and TRW.

The train operates 3 times per week in both directions between the railheads of Genk and Oradea.

The offered transit time is close to 45 hours, over a total distance of 1616 km across five countries.

T-REX is supported by the European Commission Marco Polo Programme, in a co-operation of TRW, IFB and Intercontainer Austria Gesmbh (ICA, Austria).

ARAGO

The ARAGO project is a modal shift action operating a rail route connecting Antwerp (Belgium) to Granollers and Tarragona (Spain) via the Mediterranean corridor.

The project is led by Inter Ferry Boats (Belgium), and implemented in partnership with Combiberia (Spain) and TRW (Belgium).

OFE Project

The project is an operational measure to start and operate a new regular railway corridor for the carriage of containers from Zeebrugge (Belgium) and Antwerp (Belgium) to Ottmarsheim (France).   The service will be operated with trains and a capacity of 80 TEU per trip.    This service started on 07/04/2008 providing two round trips a week.

The rail service is mainly dedicated to cargo transport from South East Asia, unloaded from deep sea vessels in the ports of Zeebrugge and Antwerp.   Aim of the service is to provide rail transport for dedicated market parties who only use trucks.  In addition the route is meant to provide a fall back option for barge operators during periods when the rive Rhine is non navigable.

The type of cargo is all cargo that can be transported in Intermodal Transport Units, except explosive and corosive goods.
